OUR LIGHT AFFLICTION

Dose of Heaven Daily Devotional for!!!Thursday 25th November 2021Topic: OUR LIGHT AFFLICTION Devotional Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:1-18Memorize: For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 2 Corinthians 4:17As we journey through life, we will sometimes be faced with adversity, pain, false accusations or difficult situations that we may not understand why, which may look difficult to find way of escape? At such times, we must look unto God.Many people look at affliction as a terrible thing, some even pray against it without knowing that some afflictions are good, some are the inevitable ladders we need to climb unto glory. Joseph, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego all went through afflictions that they considered light, because they ended in glory.I know people who are disappointed with the Christian life because they thought faith promised an easy road or that it would exempt them from life’s hardships. But faith promises us no such thing. What faith does, however, is help us handle our problems and adversities and make a way of escape for us. Often we can’t change our circumstances, but we can change the way we respond to them by trusting God.Remember the beautiful song composed by John W. Peterson “It’s not an easy road, we are travelling to Heaven. .”This song is a true reflection and reality of Christian journey, it is not an easy road, there are troubles and trials, and many thorns are on the way, But, if we live in obedience to God, he’ll use adversities, afflictions and trials to move us forward and make us go higher. God uses adversity to accomplish His will through us which most times end in glory! Whatever you are going through, hold unto God, the LORD will give you victory and it will end in glory in Jesus name. I heard a saying from old veteran seasoned preachers when i was young – “they said the gospel thrives and prosper in adversity”Adversity and trials of life produces possibilities that we may not see at the time. But God is behind the scenes working creatively and constructively in our lives for His ultimate purposes. For instance, why would God allow Apostle Paul, who was traveling round the world spreading the gospel, to go to prison? While in prison, Paul wrote two-thirds of the New Testament! And concerning his prison experience Paul said, “What has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel….” Job did not commit any sin, yet he went through his own adversity. Our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ knew no sin, But God made him sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. The adversity that Jesus went through was for our sake, to make us righteous and pleasing to God, so that at the end we can inherit eternal life with God in Heaven. Don’t despise adversity when it comes, but consider how God is at work. Your suffering today may advance the Kingdom of God tomorrow.I pray that the LORD will help you catch this very important revelation and give you the grace to accept it so that you will not lose your blessings when they come in form of affliction or adversity. No matter the afflictions that we go through in this world for the sake of Christ or because of our faith, the reward and joy of Heaven will make those afflictions to become light afflictions, remember this chorus song – “When we alI get to Heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be, when we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory. Be confident that God surely will not give you more than what you can take, and He will only allow it if He is sure the experience will lead to your blessings and promotion. May the LORD elevate you above all your enemies and bring victorious Joy out of all your afflictions in Jesus name. Prayer point: O LORD, please open my spiritual eyes to see beyond my adversity in Jesus name. Key Dose: it takes spiritual understanding to identify the blessings hidden in adversity.Pastor James Ademuyiwa Senior pastor In His Presence Christ Tabernacle Church
